Accessibility of Anna van Buerenplein by car

6 May 2024

As you might know, LUC is located at Anna van Buerenplein 301 (AvB), right next to the House of Representatives. Due to security regulations, the car accessibility of the square is only possible within certain time frames, and with prior permission.

There is a Q-Park parking garage located underneath Anna van Buerenplein. It is therefore advisable to only request access to Anna van Buerenplein if this is necessary, for example when (un)loading heavy items. For other visits you can use the parking garage.

How to access the square by car?

The square can be accessed from the Prinses Irenestraat , between New Babylon and the House of Representatives. Please note that there are two barriers in place to restrict traffic to the square:

  1. Barriers of the House of Representatives
  2. Traffic bollards of the Municipality

1. Barriers house of representatives: Registration needed

LUC must register your car and driver through an online portal, so the guards in front of the House of Representatives can open the barriers for your car. You can register by sending an email to the LUC Information Desk, with the following information:

  • Your name
  • Phone number
  • Date of arrival
  • Name of the driver (if different from the person requesting access)
  • License plate number
  • Who is your visit in reference to?
  • What is the reason for your visit?

Questions can be directed at the LUC info desk (info@luc.leidenuniv.nl).

2. Bollards of municipality – limited opening hours

The second obstacle is the traffic bollards of the Municipality of The Hague. Without a permit, they will go down during the following pre-defined time slots:

  • Monday to Friday | 05:00 - 07:00 (AM) & 10:00 - 11:30 (AM)
  • During weekends | 06:00 - 11:30 (AM)

If your want access to Anna van Buerenplein at another time

In that case you have to request an exemption to lower the bollards. Please note that you have to request this yourself. The application process is in Dutch. An exemption for traffic bollards costs € 22.20 per exemption card.
