Laboratories
SSH labs accommodate many types of research. The different types of labs were realised after close consultation with researchers and offer a wealth of possibilities.
These labs are suitable for behavioural, physiological and EEG research.
- 14 spacious labs
- Space for equipment for measuring EEG, physiology and eye tracking and administering sensory stimuli flexible.

These labs are suitable for VR research
- 1 large VR lab, also suitable for motion and navigation research
- 1 medium-sized and one smaller VR lab
Multifunctional lab with extra good sound insulation.
Spacious lab space with climate control, suitable for sensitive physiological research and optimised for Quantitative Sensory Testing (QST) research.
One large and one medium-sized lab with 36 and 14 test positions, respectively, in semi-open arrangements (cubicles). The set-up is suitable for Economic and Social Decision Making (EDM) research and (group) behavioural research where deception does not occur. Next to these spaces is a waiting room that can accommodate up to 50 participants.
Lab with 10 lockable cubicles to perform computer tasks.
Large lab suitable for classroom simulation. Accommodates 32 students of all ages thanks to adjustable furniture.
A medium-sized lab with a homely interior, suitable for research where a homely or relaxed atmosphere is required.
Medium-sized lab where students can practice with (physiological) equipment under supervision.

Equipment and manuals
The various labs have many features and, with them, a lot of equipment. Because of the quantity, we have collected the description of this equipment in the Research Wiki. Here you will also find how to connect everything to obtain good data. Do you want to start a research project and see what equipment you can use for this? Then it pays to have a look in the wiki. If you cannot find it, make an appointment with the lab manager to look at the available equipment together.
Protocols
Human-related research in SSH labs involves participants of all ages. Faculties are responsible for the safety of these participants and for the safety of staff. In general, protocols include:
- dealing with emergencies,
- cleaning and disinfection,
- data security
- and the four-eye principle.
Therefore, there are a number of basic protocols and guidelines that everyone conducting research must follow. ead these carefully before starting your research.
