LUC The Hague: Active in The Hague? Call for contributions!
Message from the College Board
Friday 15 December, the new alderman for education in The Hague (Ms. Saskia Bruines) is scheduled to visit LUC The Hague. She will be introduced to the Liberal Arts & Sciences ethos, listen to presentations by staff and students and be shown around our building. The municipality of The Hague has been very supportive and instrumental in the establishment of LUC, and the relations with the former alderman (now Minister of Education, Ingrid van Engelshoven) were very good. We are looking forward to organizing a warm welcome for mrs. Bruines at LUC.
To showcase LUC’s relationship with The Hague and its core values, we want to create a booklet presenting the projects our community is currently involved in, that have a strong relation with the city of The Hague. For example because they take place in The Hague (location), because they are a cooperation with other The Hague institutions or partners, or because they strongly focus on themes in its motto The Hague International City of Peace and Justice (working towards a better world); security and innovation are also themes http://www.thehaguepeacejustice.com/peace-and-justice.htm.
Examples of things we would like to present are items such as the ‘Community Project’, student involvement in local NGO’s or startups, research clinics in The Hague, a research project dealing with a topic or problem relevant to The Hague, etc.
The booklet will be given to the alderman and her staff, but can of course also be used in a wider context of showcasing what we do at LUC. The items presented in the booklet will also be used to update and enlarge the Engage The Hague website http://engagethehague.nl/ and vice versa.
We are calling on the whole LUC community (staff and students) to submit entries for the booklet. Please send 5-10 lines of text about your project or initiative, and a nice image/picture, to email@example.com with ‘The Hague booklet’ in the subject line. The deadline for submission is 20 November.
