Putting education innovation into practice: Comenius programme call for proposals

Are you a teacher with ideas about education innovation that you want to put into practice? Do you have a project you want to set up as part of the Vision on Teaching and Learning? Then apply for one of the Comenius programmes!

If you’d like to apply for the Teaching Fellow programme or the Senior Fellow programme, you can submit an application on one of the following themes:

  • International classroom
  • Smarter and better learning with ICT
  • Student welfare
  • Free choice (covering the full spectrum of the Strategic Agenda for Higher Education)

Your application for the Leadership Fellow programme must be in keeping with the university’s vision on teaching and learning.

Comenius Teaching Fellow programme (€50,000)

The Comenius Teaching Fellow programme is intended for education innovators who are just starting out. You must have at least two years’ teaching experience in higher education and hold a position worth at least 0.5 FTE.

Deadlines

  • 28 August: submit a statement of intent
  • 25 September: advance registrations 
  • 27 November: submit full application

Comenius Senior Fellow programme (€100,000)

The Comenius Senior Fellow programme is intended for experienced education innovators. You must have at least five years’ teaching experience in higher education and hold at least a 0.5 FTE appointment. You must also show ambition in the area of leadership, particularly pedagogical leadership, and/or in the development and study of education in your own discipline or field of study.

Each faculty (as well as the Graduate School of Teaching and the Honours College) may submit a single application. Interested in this programme? Talk to the vice-dean of your faculty.

  • 4 September: submit statement of intent
  • 2 October: advance registrations
  • 4 December: submit full application

Comenius Leadership Fellow programme (€250,000)

The Comenius Leadership Fellow programme is intended for leading education innovators. You must have at least seven years’ teaching experience in higher education and hold  at least a 0.5 FTE appointment, which includes a coordinating and/or management function. Either in this position or through the composition of your team, you must also be able to implement the innovation across the entire scope of the proposed project. Your application must be in keeping with the university’s vision on teaching and learning.

Since the university may only submit a single application, you will have to take part in a selection procedure. Each faculty (as well as the Graduate School of Teaching and the Honours College) may only submit a single proposal to the Executive Board. Let the vice-dean of your faculty know you are interested as soon as possible. The faculties must present their candidates no later than 14 August.

  • 9 October: submit full application

Submit applications for all programmes through ISAAC, NWO’s grant application system.
