As we approach the end of the calendar year, we would like to take this opportunity to remind you about certain matters.
Individual Choices Model
In the Individual Choices Model you have the freedom to select a part of your employment terms and conditions. If you still want to make use of these options this year, you must have submitted your request by 30 November at the latest.
Book your leaf in Self Service
Leave is taken in the year in which the entitlement arose. This is laid down in the Holiday Procedure and in the CAO of Dutch universities. If it is not possible to take all your leave, you can carry unused leave over to the following calendar year. However, you must have taken those unused hours of leave completely by the end of the following calendar year.
Leave hours from the previous calendar year that have not been taken expire at the end of 2018. For example: leave hours from 2017 that have not been used will expire on 31 December 2018.
The Holiday Procedure also states that it is obligatory to request leave in Self Service. This applies to all employees, unless an annual agreement has been concluded. If by the end of 2018 you have still not used the leave registration system in Self Service, it will be assumed that you have taken all the leave that you were entitled to in 2018. Our advice therefore is: plan your leave on time and apply for it via Self Service before 1 December 2018.
