Meet the new Financial Controller for Archaeology: Edwin de Ruijter

10 January 2019

"My name is Edwin de Ruijter and I began work at FdA at the beginning of January. I will be the  Financial Controller of this Faculty. In this position I am the successor of Erik Kien and, from February onwards, of Petra Kamer.

I’d like to introduce myself with a few details of my private life: I am 54 years’ young, and have two sons, both, fortunately, independent. Most of my spare time is spent on sports. I like running and in the gym I follow RPM and spinning classes. In July 2018 I walked my first (and last) Nijmeegse vierdaagse. This was something I had been wanting to do for years, but I waited until I reached the age qualification which allowed me to walk 40 instead of 50 kilometers a day! This was an amazing experience!

I volunteer as a host at a hospital in Leidschendam. I really enjoy this; the patients are appreciative, and it is deeply satisfying to me. I have acquired many skills from this occupation that I can apply to my daily work and my private life. Even if I have only succeeded in making one patient feel better, it has brightened my day.

Saturday afternoon is time for football, but mostly along the side-lines.

Do feel free to contact me with your questions, I am keen to help you. I will be in A2.15 (Petra/Erik’s room on the second floor) all days of the working week. I  look forward to a pleasant cooperation."
