20 March 2019: Extra security at City Hall The Hague and Central Station - Update
Update: The threat has been scaled down.
The security around the city hall and Central Station in The Hague has been scaled up this afternoon. The police says a man has made threats over the phone.
According to the municipality, it would be a threat phone call in connection with a dispute about benefits. The man is said to have made serious threats during a meeting with the municipality, as a precaution the locations are being monitored better.
There are six police buses at the town hall. All entrances are monitored. There are also additional agents on the Kalvermarkt and some agents are provided with a bulletproof vest. There are extra security guards in yellow jackets at the station who have been instructed to look out for the man. There are extra agents there too.
What exactly is going on is still unclear.
