On Thurdays: Education Coffee Break at Faculty of Science
As of 25 May, the Daily Education Coffee Breaks at the Faculty of Science will become a Weekly Education Coffee Break and will take place on Thursdays from 11:00 tot 11:30.
Sharing knowledge about online education
To help education staff at the start of the corona crisis with transferring all their courses to a completely online environment, the Faculty of Science started to organise daily informal coffee breaks where they can swap stories, listen to how other colleagues are coping, and share ideas, tips and tricks.
Now that most lecturers and other education staff are more accustomed to organising and teaching online courses, per 25 May these breaks will be a one-weekly thing and the breaks will include a small presentation at the start. The informal character will be maintained: attendees can walk in and out as they please, join in the discussion or just listen.
The coffee breaks take place each Thursday from 11.00 to 11.30.
All SEEDS newsletter subscribers will receive a weekly mail with topic announcement for the Coffee Break. Not on the mailing list yet? Send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Each coffee break will have a 'coffee guest' (speaker) who will share their best practice in a short 10 minutes presentation (5 slides), followed by a discussion with questions or remarks from the attending coffee drinkers. Host Pedro Russo will moderate the session.
All the presentations will be recorded and placed on the Weekly Coffee Breaks website. You can also view the recordings archive of the Daily Coffee Breaks to see and hear what other colleagues did to digitise their practicals, exams, field trips and more.
Do you have a best practice to share?
If you have successfully used a tool or experimented with online teaching methods or if you are working on any other form of online education that would be interesting for colleagues at our Faculty to hear about, please let the organisers know! You can reach them at email@example.com.
