Weblecture options for teachers
Due to COVID-19, the university is working hard towards facilitating online education. Weblectures are something the most instructors are now familiar with. Weblectures have multiple functions available to enhance the usability and interaction for students and teachers. For example, it is possible for a teacher to only use audio and for students to ask questions, or to watch a lecture live. In this manual some options will be discussed briefly.
Fixed recording equipment is available in lecture halls 2.01 and 2.02 at Wijnhaven building, A0.06 at Schouwburgstraat building and 2.21 at Anne van Buerenplein building. It is important to book one of the lecture halls through the UFP. It is not possible to record a weblecture in any of the other lecture halls. After your reservation, you can send an e-mail to the ICT&E-department of the faculty (firstname.lastname@example.org) with the specific dates, times, location and other options you want enabled for your recording. The ICT&E-team will set up the recording(s). On the requested date and time, you can start your lecture in the lecture hall like you are used to.
You can choose to pre-record your lectures. It is important to send an e-mail to email@example.com with the exact dates, times, the specific lecture hall and the functions you want enabled or disabled. The ICT&E-team will set up the recording. On the planned date and time, you can start your lecture in the lecture hall like you are used to. Afterwards the ICT&E-team will send you an e-mail with unique links to your lectures which you can send to your students.
If you wish to stream your lecture live, it is important that the unique link is shared with students prior of the lecture. When you send an e-mail to the ICT&E-team with the specific demands for your lecture, you will receive an unique link for the livestream. It is your responsibility to distribute this link to your students. On the planned day, you can start your lecture like you are used to. Afterwards, you will receive your recording via e-mail which you can send to your students.
If you want more interaction in your lectures, you can enable the Q&A function by mentioning this in your e-mail. This is possible for livestreams and on-demand recordings. Students now have the possibility to type in questions that you can answer directly or later on. After your livestream you will receive an e-mail with two unique links. One gives access to your recorded lecture, which you can send to your students and the other gives access to a moderator portal. This portal allows you to view all the questions of students as long as your lecture is available.
