LUC The Hague: Corona update
Last week we saw our first confirmed case of corona among students living at the AvB campus. We received the news just after the Newsletter was sent out, and informed the community via email. All information letters can be found here. This website provides us with the necessary platform where we collect all information about living and working at LUC in one place. The student concerned has acted well by isolating themselves, informing their RA, the SLO, and LUC, and by informing their close contacts to quarantine. Well done!
We are happy that the student recovered well and was allowed to stop isolating, and that no further infections have been reported since. Students should report infections with COVID-19 using this form.
The Dutch government has announced new, stricter guidelines to combat the virus. Read here what this means for Leiden University, including LUC. We are currently consulting with the Faculty Board what this means for our ambition to allow on-site extracurricular and social activities for our students on campus, including the opening of Coasters under strict guidelines. I hope to have more information later this week.
Among the rules that affect our community: no more than 4 people can form a group outside of your home, and bars and restaurants close at 22.00 o'clock. Also, if an infection takes place at work, the workplace can be closed for 14 days. In addition, the municipality of The Hague is asking everyone to wear a face mask in publicly accessible indoor spaces such as shops, hairdressers, supermarkets. At the moment, wearing face masks at University is voluntary, not obliged.
