News from the Faculty Council Archaeology
The new academic year has started! And with it a new year for the Faculty Council, with new members and new annual goals.
The Faculty Council is the most important advisory body within the Faculty: it represents the interests of the Faculty community in the governance of the Faculty. The council can advise the board on all policy matters, and approves various policies to do with finances, education, and regulations at the Faculty. The Faculty council consists of student and staff members, both of whom are elected.

Departures and arrivals
We’d also like to thank the departing student members: Jan Dekker, Kiki Koppers, and Joris Geboers. 2019/2020 was a year that saw many important dossiers and major developments. Together we have debated, prepared, and taken many key decisions for our Faculty and the council. We deeply appreciate your commitment, and involvement as the turbulent year unfolded. We wish each of you the very best in your studies!
In 2020/2021, we welcome three new members: Simone Reurings, Olivia Cashmere, and Yvonne Janssen. We look forward to working together on all of the developments that await us in 2020/20201!
Goals for 2020-2021
The Faculty Council has formulated a number of annual goals for 2020/2021. In addition to our usual activities to monitor education, research, HR, finances, and regulation, we will be working to:
- Improve the annual policy cycle of the Faculty;
- Increase our visibility for students and staff alike;
- Maintain the Faculty’s healthy financial situation;
- Improve the representation of international staff and students;
- Continue the professionalisation of the Faculty Council;
- Promote staff well-being during the upcoming years.
