Updates to rules for events, room hire and demonstrations
Leiden University attaches great importance to freedom and giving its students and staff the opportunity to debate, demonstrate and formulate new ideas. This also applies to themes that some people may find controversial or offensive. To ensure that these activities take place in a safe manner, there are regulations in place for the use of university buildings, grounds and faculties. These regulations have recently been updated.
Most important updates
- Do you want to organise a demonstration in a university building or on university grounds? You can, but you must always request advance permission from the security department. You can find the conditions for granting permission in the 'Regulations for the use of University buildings, grounds and other facilities'.
- You must request permission for events or room hire at least two weeks in advance at the service desk of the university building in question.
- When requesting permission, you must clearly explain the purpose and format of the event or room hire.
