The new European funding programme Horizon Europe brings some changes and new requirements. One of which, is for all public bodies to have a Gender Equality Plan in place by 1 January 2022.

Gender Equality Plan

This also applies to Leiden University. The university already has a Diversity and Inclusion Workplan which covers the main requirements. The HR-Excellence in Research and Recognition and Reward are also initiatives that meet the requirements. 

Horizon Europe requirements

The Diversity and Inclusion Expertise Office is currently preparing a Gender Equality Plan for the university, which will combine existing policies and will satisfy the Horizon Europe requirements. These are expected to be submitted for approval by the Executive Board (CvB), end Q3 2021. 

Applications

Applications can be submitted without a formal plan before 2022, with no impact on the application process. The new University Gender Equality Plan will be made publicly available on the Diversity and Inclusion website. We will inform you once it is available.
