Vacation 2021: be aware of the corona measures
If you have been on holiday, or are planning to go on holiday, you can read on the Government website whether you need to quarantine when you return to the Netherlands and what the rules are for quarantining at home.
Current travel advice
If you are planning to go on holiday, this website will give you the most up-to-date travel advice. The University endorses the government guidelines. As at 31 May 2021, the government’s advice is: only travel to countries that are coded green or yellow. Whatever country you travel to, you may have to observe particular corona measures, such as the need for a test or for quarantine. The situation in a country can also change rapidly, so it is important to stay aware of the travel advice.
Code orange or red
If you nonetheless decide to travel to a country where the travel advice is orange or red, on your return to the Netherlands you have to show a negative test result and quarantine for ten days.
If you take a corona test on day five and this is negative, you can shorten your quarantine period (status 31 May 2021). When making holiday plans, it is wise to take these requirements into consideration. You should also be aware of the fact that travel advice can change, even after you have reached your holiday destination.
In quarantine
It may happen that, after your holiday, you are expected to work on location, but are prevented from doing so because you have returned from a red or orange country and you have to stay in quarantine. In this case, please contact your supervisor as quickly as possible, who will look at how your absence from work can be resolved and whether, for example, extra holiday days have to be taken. It goes without saying that we hope this won’t be necessary, and we wish you a happy holiday. Enjoy your vacation, and stay safe!
