Starting on Tuesday 20 July, the Scholarly Publications Repository will show publications without attachment from Leiden University researchers. This step enables Leiden University Libraries to aggregate and showcase all Leiden research in a central location and make it visible to scholarly harvesters such as Narcis. The publications can be found with the filter 'Availability' set to ‘Metadata Only’.

Apart from increasing the discoverability of our research output, this change is also an invitation to add attachments to your registered publications. If you search your own name in the repository, it will immediately be clear which publications are not yet available as Open Access through the repository. Please contact your faculty’s Lucris manager for any additions.

Even though we show more information in the repository, the publication tab on your profile at the university website remains the same. Publications will only be linked to a handle of our Scholarly Publications Repository if there is an attachment available.

Planning and requirements

The goal of this project is to eventually incorporate all publications into the repository that are written with a Leiden affiliation. This means we will not transfer publications for which the research area is set to publications coming from a previous or ancilliary function. Activities, such as a 'Lecture', will not be transferred automatically either.

To keep control over the quality of the available metadata descriptions, the transfer process is broken up into batches. For LUMC researchers, metadata only records of their publications have already been available through the repository for some time. Publications from FGGA will be transferred at a later stage. For the other faculties we will start out with peer reviewed journal articles from the last 6 years.
