Update:Teaching on location at Leiden Law School from 30 Augustus
Fortunately, from 30 August we will be able to teach more often on location. This must be done in a safe and responsible manner and we will need your help to achieve this. The most important consequences of our reopening are set out below.
Safe reopening at the faculty
The University is only a safe place if everyone takes proper responsibility. This means, for example:
- Stay at home if you have symptoms of a cold, and get tested.
- Get tested if you have been in contact with someone who has been infected with the coronavirus.
- As a preventive measure, take a self-test twice a week. Students and staff at our university can order self-tests free of charge via Zelftestonderwijs.nl. Remember that you may have to wait a few days for the tests to arrive.
- Stick to the Campus Protocol and follow all instructions when in the buildings.
- If you have any concerns, please contact your manager.
Teaching
- The maximum number of students participating in educational activities is 75 excluding the lecturers or any supervisors present. This applies to all activities related to teaching (lectures, workgroups, moot court etc.).
- All up-to-date information about teaching (starting Monday 6 September 2021) will be available on Brightspace from Monday 23 August. This will include which lectures will be done online and which will be given on location.
- Education is provided by the study programmes (subject coordinators).
- The maximum size of groups does not apply in corridors and other passing areas.
- The restaurant in the Kamerlingh Onnes Building will be used as a restaurant again. The 75 study spaces can be used before and after lunchtime and no longer have to be reserved via SharedDesk.
- It is still necessary to reserve a study place in the library via SharedDesk.
Walking routes and the 1.5-metre distancing rule
The 1.5-metre distancing rule will no longer apply as of Monday 30 August. This means that in our buildings you no longer have to keep to that distance. This applies to both students and staff. The walking routes have been clearly set out so follow the direction of the arrows in the buildings. Respect each other and give each other space.
Face masks compulsory again
From 30 August, it is once again compulsory to wear a face mask when moving from one teaching activity to another or when moving around in the buildings. You can remove your face mask if you are sitting at a desk or study space or when teaching.
Ventilation & cleaning:
- The (mechanical) air ventilation are functioning properly and air is not recirculated: the indoor air gets blown outside.
- Classrooms, including the furnishings, will also be carefully cleaned. Hand sanitizing gel is available at lecture rooms for extra hygiene.
In addition, it is advisable to Ventilate rooms by (regularly) opening the doors.
Vaccination
It is expected that at the beginning of September everyone who so wishes will have had two vaccinations. Vaccination is and remains a key part of the strategy to fight the coronavirus. Students and staff can get vaccinated at a number of GGD vaccination locations without having to make an appointment beforehand. See www.prikkenzonderafspraak.nl or make an appointment via www.planjeprik.nl or by calling the GGD.
Opening events and diploma presentations
The maximum number of 75 persons in one space also applies to diploma presentations and other activities. Diplomas will be presented in the coming weeks as follows:
- First-year and bachelor’s diplomas via the desk at the Onderwijs Informatie Centrum (OIC).
- The presentation of master’s diplomas will be done at the Academy Building with a limited number of guests present and with due observance of the protocol.
- The graduation ceremonies of the Advanced Master’s students will go ahead, adjusted in line with government (RIVM) guidelines.
Work
- Working from home will continue to be the norm for staff who do not have a teaching or educational support role. If you have a good reason for coming to the office, discuss this first with your manager. There are possibilities to come to work as long as we keep a close eye on numbers.
- Requests to work a half day or a full day at the faculty must still be done by your manager or management assistant via gebouwtoegang@law.leidenuniv.nl, no later than noon on the day before you want to work at the faculty.
- Requests to work at the Old Observatory should be sent to your manager.
- To work at the Wijnhaven location in The Hague, please use the SharedDesk app.
