20 and 21 November: university network and buildings not accessible

On 20 and 21 November, there will be planned maintenance in the heart of the university network. This is a follow-up to the major network servicing of 31 July. The university network will be unavailable from 09.00 on Saturday, 20 November for the entire day and for most of Sunday 21 November.

What will this mean for you?

Both at home and on campus, you will not have access to the university network or the buildings during the maintenance work. All systems for which you need to log in to with your ULCN credentials will not be available. This means you will not have access to services like Brightspace or Remote Workplace. The university’s website will also not be available and all university buildings will be closed on both days.  

Tip: Plan your work so that you will not need access to the university network on 20 and 21 November.

Will you be able to work remotely?

  • The university network will not be available. Remote Workplace (Citrix) will not be working.
  • Office365 and OneDrive will most probably work as normal, but we cannot guarantee this. MS Teams will probably also be available, both the app and the web version. If you are requested to log in again to a Microsoft service, this might not work.

Will you have access to your email?

If you are a staff member: currently, approximately half of all staff member accounts have been transferred to Office365. Email access will only possible via Office 365. If you are a student, you will probably have access to your emails. All student accounts have been migrated to Outlook in Office365. However, if you are requested to log on to a Microsoft service, then possibly this may fail. 

Will you be able to use Brightspace?

It will not be possible to use Brightspace.

Telephone system

Phoning within the university will not be possible.
