Expected disturbances in the center of The Hague: Action Week Extinction Rebellion

11 October 2021

Extinction Rebellion says they will hold an action week from October 11 to 18 during which they plan to block the political center of the Netherlands, The Hague. They have announced this grandly on their website and social media. Meanwhile, the organisation has announced three demonstrations at the municipality for 13, 14 and 15 October. They refuse to give information about their other actions.

It is not possible to completely prevent nuisance from unannounced flash actions. If disorder occurs, the police will take action.

The demonstration policy in The Hague

The demonstration policy in The Hague is aimed at enabling, not limiting. This applies to announced demonstrations but also, if possible, to unannounced demonstrations. For this action week, too, demonstrations that take place within the rules will be facilitated as much as possible. However, limits can and will be set for unannounced demonstrations. As required by law, these restrictions are always in the interest of traffic flow, to protect public health or to combat or prevent disorder.
