Do you want to become a Faculty Council member until August 2023? (staff)

8 December 2021

In January, by-elections will be held for the staff section of the Faculty Council (FR).

If you are interested in being a member of the Faculty Council between January 2022 and August 2023, you can apply by filling in a form and sending it to the Faculty Elections Office from 14 to 17 December (until 4 pm) 2021 by e-mail: stembureau@hum.leidenuniv.nl.

Please discuss this with your supervisor, for whom the compensation information below is also important.

Why by-elections?

The Faculty Council consists of 9 student members and 9 staff members. To properly act as a representative body of the entire faculty, it is important that sufficient staff from the institutes and departments are represented in the Faculty Council. At the moment, there are only 6 instead of 9 staff members in the Council. In the near future, a number of important files will be involved, such as the Faculty Strategic Plan, the Humanities Campus, strategy Campus The Hague, and of course the normal issues such as budgets, OERs, etc. For this reason, a request was submitted to the Executive Board, also on behalf of the FR, for interim elections. This request was granted.

Compensation

An FR member of the staff section is allowed to spend 0.1 FTE on FR tasks. The institutes and departments where the staff member is appointed receive financial compensation in the maximum of the scale in which the staff member is classified. This compensation enables the institutes and departments to adequately replace the staff members who have been elected to the Faculty Council.

Is the FR something for you, and would you like to nominate yourself as a candidate?

Discuss the possibilities with your supervisor and fill in the form.
