Stand as a candidate in the University elections this week

4 April 2022

The University elections will be held from 9 to 13 May 2022. Students and staff will soon be able to stand as a candidate. This year , students can stand for the University Council, all faculty councils and the LUMC Student Council. Staff can stand for the University Council and – because of mid-term elections – for the FGGA and Archaeology Faculty Councils and the Administration and Central Services Employee Council. If you like to represent the interests of students and staff in the coming year, you can submit your candidacy from 5 to 8 April.

What do the participation bodies do?

The University Council, faculty councils and employee councils monitor how our university is run, give solicited and unsolicited advice and help decide on important issues. The University Council does this at the Executive Board level, the faculty councils do this at the faculty level and the employee councils do this at the level of the central departments. Read more about their work and how to contact them in the organisational guide.

Why stand as a candidate?

Not only does a role in the University participation bodies give you the chance to represent student and staff interests, but it also ensures good management. In addition, it gives you the opportunity to develop your networking, negotiating, arguing and policy-assessment skills. And you will be first to hear about the latest developments at the University!

How do I stand as a candidate?

To stand as a candidate, you will need to fill in the right forms and submit these to the polling station. For more details what exactly you will need to do, see the ‘Standing as a candidate’ page. You will also find more information about the election schedule for 2022 in the organisational guide.
