Say goodbye to disposable cups: the Billie Cup pilot is expanding

22 February 2023

After a Billie Cup pre-pilot at Leiden Law School, a pilot has now started in the cafés of the Faculty of Social and Behavioral Sciences, Lipsius and Wijnhaven. This way, more and more people can contribute to the prevention of disposable waste.

What is the Billie Cup?

In the Netherlands, millions of take away coffee cups are thrown away every day and Billie Cup wants to do something about this. A Billie Cup is a reusable, interchangeable cup made entirely of recyclable polypropylene. Compared to other materials, it performs best in terms of energy consumption in production and recyclability. The cup can be used at least 500 times, is tasteless and contains no BPA or pollutants.

How does it work?

When you order a drink in a Billie Cup, you pay a small deposit of 1 euro. If you then return your Billie Cup, you will receive a Billie Coin that you can use to get a clean Billie Cup later. This way you don't have to bring a reusable cup from home and a clean, environmentally conscious cup is always within reach!

So, do you want to enjoy a nice cup of coffee or tea and at the same time contribute to the reduction of waste? Choose a Billie Cup!
