Theory and Methods of Law seminars
Every dissertation is also a report of a personal journey, full of inspiration, challenges, setbacks, and victories. For the Theory and Methods of Law seminars, we have invited people who have recently, or not so recently, obtained their PhD to talk about their journey from appointment to defense. Which methodols of law challenges did they run into? How did they arrive at their (final) research question? How big was the stack of unused materials that ended up in the (digital) trash? When do you approach a publisher? What would they do exactly the same or completely different?
All sessions will start at 17.30 and end at 19.00 at the latest. They are held at the Kamerlingh Onnes Building and are organized by Jorieke Manenschijn from the Department of Jurisprudence in collaboration with Professor Bastiaan Rijpkema. Manenschijn’s PhD research focusses on the resilient rule of law. Rijpkema’s chair focusses on the Theory and Methods of Law in an Interdisciplinary Context.
The meetings are intended as an informal way to get to know each other. The seminars are intended for PhD candidates from the Department of Jurisprudence but other Leiden Law School PhD candidates are also invited.
