Call for nomination: Candidates Faculty Council FGGA 2023

2 March 2023

On 21 and 22 March 2023, candidates may be nominated for the elections of the Faculty Council. The Faculty Council is the faculty’s advisory council. The Faculty Council has both advisory rights as well as the right of consent on various matters concerning the faculty. As such, the Council represents both students and staff and acts as a sounding board for the Faculty Board. The tasks and authorities of the Council are based on the Wet Hoger Onderwijs (WHW) and have been written down in the faculty rules and regulations. The Faculty Council of the Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs consists of eight members: four staff members and four students. Approximately every six weeks the Faculty Board and the Faculty Council have a joint meeting.

Language (support)

The administrative language within Leiden University is Dutch. This means that the language used in meetings in principle is Dutch as well. In the meetings, you may as a member of the Faculty Council of course speak English. Documents to be discussed with the Faculty Board are often written in Dutch but a short summary in English is added to the documents. A language buddy and/ or Dutch language course are offered, but at least some passive knowledge of the Dutch language (listening and reading) is advised to be able to participate fully as a member of the Faculty Council.

Application for the elections: 21 & 22 March 2023

This year you may apply for positions in the staff section and positions in the student section. Staff members and students of the Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs can send the fully completed application form to the Polling Station of the Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs, at stembureau@fgga.leidenuniv.nl. This can be done on 21 March 2022 and 22 March 2023, 16.00 p.m. At the back of the application form the application must be signed by five colleagues or fellow students.
