The Diversity Committee announces a new round of funding to assist small-scale projects that contribute to diversifying archaeological practice in all domains, including classrooms, laboratories, museums, and the field.

Projects include, but are not limited to:

  • organizing (guest) lectures and workshops,
  • producing audio-visual material (e.g., short videos, infographics),
  • connecting FdA’s diversity efforts with other faculties and organizations,
  • testing community engagement and ethical citizen-science ideas,
  • community building.

The committee is particularly looking for projects that would contribute to the diversity mission of the faculty.

Who can apply?

  • Academic, visiting, and support staff with full-time/part-time contracts at the Faculty of Archaeology.
  • Students at the Faculty of Archaeology; with an exception for the members of the Faculty Board, Faculty Council, and the Diversity Committee.

How to apply?

Please complete the application form by 15 May 2023.

What is the funding structure?

The evaluation committee encourages small-scale student-led projects.  For making funds more available, we ask budget requests not to exceed 500 Euros. However, it is still possible to apply for a larger grant (max 900 Euros).

The evaluation committee will be composed as follows:

The DARCH budget cannot be used for the following:

  • conference/fieldwork participation,
  • purchasing (digital) material: books, magazines, journal subscriptions, etc.,
  • buying hardware or proprietary software,
  • projects that aim for career development.

Project Deliverables

Following the final date of the project, the applicant(s) should provide a brief report (max 2,000 words) detailing the successes and failures of the project, but especially providing recommendations to the Diversity Committee, Faculty Council, and the Faculty Board.
