Joanne van der Leun on Student Well-being Staff Symopsium

20 March 2023

On Thursday 30 March, the Student Well-being Staff Symposium will be held. Our dean, Joanne van der Leun, will give a keynote speech on the Vision on Student Well-being. This symposium is for all staff who have contact with students. In a message below, Joanne explains why it is important for staff to register for this symposium.

Student well-being, time to act!

Here at Leiden Law School, we see that many students are struggling with high expectations and stress. Teaching staff are sometimes unsure about how to deal with this and to what extent dealing with it is part of their responsibilities. The Covid pandemic played a role in reduced mental resilience, but it is certainly not the only factor. It is often hard to admit that you are having problems and to find someone to talk to or get help. To lower these barriers, Leiden University has created a framework for teaching staff, support staff, and students. On Thursday 30 March, you can learn more about this and get tools to help you make a positive contribution to the well-being of our students. So I invite you all to come to the Student Well-Being Staff Symposium!
