A new academic year, new colleagues at the faculty

6 September 2023

The academic year has begun and we've already got off to a good start. Since the beginning of this new academic year, a number of new colleagues have started in their new positions and the interim members of the Faculty Board are continuing in their roles. We would like to update you about the current roles/positions.

New & departing colleagues

Starting September 2023, Martine van Trigt will be Head of Research Affairs. Prior to this, she worked as a grants advisor at our faculty. Her expertise includes advising on (international) grant applications, writing and editing research proposals, and sourcing external funding. Martine succeeds Sven Bontje.

Jikke van der Putte joined the faculty in September to support the Head of Marketing & Communications Annet van der Helm, work on external communications, and manage the faculty communications team.

The new Chair of the University Council is our HR adviser Pauline Vincenten and she will transfer to this new position for two years with immediate effect. The HR department will contact the relevant institutes about her successor.

Interim Faculty Board and positions

The interim Faculty Board has been appointed until 1 January 2024. The exception is interim Assessor Julie Külsen. Julie Külsen is ad interim until 1 November 2023 due to the withdrawal of the previously proposed assessor. A new vacancy will be posted for this position.

Due to Jan Adriaanse's temporary role as interim Vice-Dean of Education at the interim Faculty Board, Jean-Pierre van der Rest has been appointed as interim Academic Director at the Institute of Tax Law and Economics and Linda van Dun is taking over the affairs of the Leiden Law Academy as interim head of staff until January 2024.
