Tragic news concerning Dr Andrzej Antczak

4 March 2024

This week we received the sad news that Andrzej Antczak has passed away. Andrzej was loved by the Faculty community, not only because he was so dedicated to the study of the ancient Caribbean, but also (and foremost) because he was such a kind person who was always there for others.

Andrzej’s life will be celebrated on Thursday the 7th of March at 15.15 hours in the Jan Steen Aula of crematorium Rhijnhof, Leiden. You may also join the ceremony online. See the funeral card for more information.

A memorial book will be placed near the reception desk at the entrance of the Van Steenis. Those who wish to leave a message or to write down their memories of Andrzej can do so in this book.

The difficult news about Andrzej leaves us sad. We wish you all, especially the colleagues who have worked closely with him over the past decade, strength in coping with this loss. Our thoughts now first and foremost go out to his wife Marlena, and other family members who have to say goodbye to Andrzej.
