Nominate a master's thesis for the Jan Brouwer Thesis Prizes 2026
The 'Koninklijke Hollandsche Maatschappij der Wetenschappen' (KHMW) annually awards the Jan Brouwer Thesis Prizes. For this round, ten academic fields will be considered, of which the following categories are relevant to FSW: Behavioural Sciences (psychology and pedagogical sciences); Political Science and Public Administration; Sociology and Anthropology. The prize is intended for master's theses approved in the 2024/2025 academic year. There is a sum of €3000 attached.
Would you like to nominate a thesis?
The KHMW invites lecturers to nominate one excellent master's student. Both Dutch- and English-language theses can be nominated. If a thesis falls into more than one area, it may only be nominated in one area.
Nominations, in Dutch or English, may be made by one or more lecturers involved in the programme and should be submitted digitally via the form on the KHMW website no later than 3 October 2025.
The nomination should include the following documents:
- a letter of recommendation from the thesis supervisor/lecturer with a description of the research, the scientific perspective provided by the research and social relevance of the research results,
- a (short) curriculum vitae of the nominee and a grade list of their master's degree,
- a digital version of the nominated master's thesis,
- and any further information that may be relevant to the award.
