New card readers for access to Oude UB
Starting Monday, 3 November, two additional LU-Card readers will be activated in Oude UB: one at the entrance to the central hall and one at the door leading to the garden. From that moment onwards, only staff members with a permanent workspace or regular activities in the Oude UB will be able to enter the building with their LU-Card. Other colleagues and visitors must report to the service desk. This will allow better monitoring of who is present in the building and help ensure a safe working environment for both staff and visitors.
What does this mean for Oude UB staff?
The new card readers are located at the entrance to the central hall and at the back door. Starting 3 November, you will need to scan your LU-Card to enter the building. Doing so will automatically check you in for your reserved workspace. The garden door will be open only during the summer, from 11:00 to 15:00 hrs., so you can easily access the garden for lunch. During the rest of the year, this door will remain closed, allowing reception staff to keep track of who is in the building.
Visitors
Always register visitors in advance by email with the Service Desk at: ServiceDesk@UFB.LeidenUniv.nl. This applies to colleagues, students, and external guests. Once your visitor reports to the service desk, they will be admitted to the central hall, where they may wait until you collect them. Please inform your visitors of this procedure in advance to avoid confusion.
Access for other staff members
Do you not work in Oude UB but visit the building regularly for meetings, projects, or other activities? Then you can request access by submitting a form via TopDesk. The request will be sent to the Service Desk, which can assign the appropriate access rights to your LU-Card.
Please note: the link to the TopDesk form will be active starting 3 November.
Stay alert
The new card readers will improve access control and thereby enhance the safety of both staff and property in our building. However, even after 3 November, it is important to remain alert. Please keep the following in mind:
- Always bring your LU-Card to the office and never lend it to others. Temporary LU-Cards are not available.
- When opening a locked door, check that no one is following you in who should not be in the building.
- Remind anyone trying to “tailgate” that they must report to reception for access.
- If you see someone in the hallways or around the building who arouses your suspicion, notify the Service Desk immediately.
If you have any questions about the new access policy, please contact the Service Desk.
