Keep it clean and clear – and mice won’t come near

11 December 2025

Recently, we’ve seen an increase in pest-related issues – especially mice – in our buildings. With the upcoming Christmas break, we want to tackle this quickly. The good news: with a few simple actions, we can already prevent a lot.

A clean environment really is the key. Our motto: “Don’t leave food out – that way, the mice won’t find it!”

What’s already being done?

Preventive and corrective measures are in place and carried out according to regulations. In the Gorlaeus Building, several openings to the outside have already been sealed. We’re also working with UFB to explore how we can improve cleaning in specific areas.

What can you do?

We’re asking everyone to pitch in and help keep our buildings safe, clean, and free of pests. Always keep the following in mind:

  • Take leftover food home, or store food only in tightly sealed containers. Cardboard or paper packaging and plastic bags do not work.
  • Clean up crumbs and food scraps right away and leave your workspace or study spot clean.
  • Throw waste into the bins, even if it’s not yours. It only takes a moment.

Make sure cleaners have enough space to clean workspaces and rooms properly. Do you spot mice or signs of them? Report it to the service desk immediately!

Together, we keep our buildings clean and pleasant places to work and study. Thanks for your help!
