Collaborate on educational innovation and join a Special Interest Group

9 June 2026

Are you a true innovator and do you want to collaborate on urgent educational topics with colleagues across the university? Why not join a Special Interest Group (SIG)?

What are SIGs and what topics do they focus on?

SIGs are change- and action-oriented thematic communities in which forward-thinking staff from across all faculties and expertise centres collaborate on the following emerging educational topics:

  • AI in education
  • Learning analytics
  • Immersive Experiences (IX)
  • Inter- and transdisciplinary education

The groups include, among others, teachers, (technical) support staff, policy advisors, educational scientists, and researchers. These colleagues bring together diverse expertise and exchange practical insights, strengthen cross-faculty collaboration, and identify trends which shape the university's approach to teaching and learning.

If you want to contribute to the future of education at Leiden University and exchange ideas with like-minded colleagues, the SIG might be for you.

How to get involved

Want to know more? On the Special Interest Groups webpage you will find more information and details regarding how to join.

Leiden Education Support (LES)

The Special Interest Groups are part of a project launched in 2026 with support from an Npuls transition grant. The 3-year project aims to establish Leiden Education Support (LES) as a networked Centre for Teaching & Learning and to further develop the university-wide network for teacher development and educational innovation through knowledge sharing and collaboration.

For any questions about LES, please contact LES@leidenuniv.nl.
