Filling in the Privacy Quick Scan: SOLO offers help!
As of September 2026, Erik van Duijn (SOLO) will be the contact person for FSW towards the central Privacy Office. He is ready to help researchers complete their Privacy Quick Scan (PQS). To ensure that all PQS’s can be handled smoothly, we recommend contacting Erik van Duijn via privacy@fsw.leidenuniv.nl. He can help you fill in the PQS and forward the completed PQS to the central Privacy Office (with you in cc) for review.
Faster and more accurate
When you contact Erik, please send him all relevant documentation (ethics review, DMP) related to the research proposal. It is not mandatory to involve Erik, but he can help you save time and increase the accuracy of the answers. Erik is also available for a one-on-one appointment, during which you can fill in the PQS together.
PQS as a self-assessment
Are you a researcher at Education and Child Studies? Then your research probably involves children and/or sensitive data. You can still use the PQS as a self-assessment tool. If you believe that a DPIA (Data Protection Impact Assessment) is not necessary, please contact Erik (privacy@fsw.leidenuniv.nl) as early as possible so that he can help you complete the PQS as explained above. If a DPIA is necessary, you can send your PQS and DPIA directly to the Privacy Office: privacy@bb.leidenuniv.nl. You can still involve SOLO for help with filling out the PQS.
