Stand for election to the Faculty Council
Would you like to help shape the future of our faculty and have a say in decisions affecting our teaching, research and working environment? This autumn, interim elections will be held for the staff representatives on the Faculty Council of Humanities. Three seats are available, and we warmly encourage you to stand for election.
The Faculty Council represents staff and students and has advisory and consent rights on important faculty matters, including education policy, staffing and the budget. As a council member, you engage directly with the Faculty Board, ask critical questions and can raise issues that matter to our faculty community.
An opportunity to explore staff representation
The elected candidates will serve on the Faculty Council for the remainder of this academic year. This makes the elections an excellent opportunity for colleagues interested in staff representation who may be hesitant to commit to the usual two-year term.
No previous experience in staff representation is required. Council membership takes approximately one day per month, including meetings and preparation. Time for these responsibilities is accommodated within your work schedule.
Stand for election on 27 or 28 October
Nominations are open on Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 October 2026. The deadline is Wednesday 28 October at 16:00.
Visit the elections page for nomination forms and information about the procedure. Would you like to learn more about the role first? Read the information and frequently asked questions about the Faculty Council.
We welcome candidates from different institutes, roles and backgrounds. A diversity of perspectives strengthens the representation of our faculty community.
