Alumni services

Leiden University alumni can make use of a number of University services: ULCN and uMail, career support, mentoring network and the Young Alumni Network.

Career counselling

Until one year after graduation alumni can contact the Career Service for career counselling. They are offered a free interview with one of the career advisers. Alumni taking part in workshops are charged the student rate. Until six months after graduation, alumni from the faculties of Humanities and Law can contact their own faculty. From six months to one year after graduation, they can make an appointment with the Career Service.

Mentoring network Leiden

University aims to thoroughly prepare its students for the labour market and help young alumni on their way to a career. To help them with their questions and choices, we like to engage the knowledge and experience of Leiden alumni. To this end we have created an online mentoring network. Via this network students and recent graduates are brought into contact with experienced Leiden alumni who can easily be approached for advice. Leiden alumni can volunteer as mentors. For more information, please consult the Leiden University alumni website.

Young Alumni Network

The Young Alumni Network targets alumni aged 35 or younger. It focuses on networking, career and personal development. The Young Alumni Network offers young alumni the opportunity to meet, exchange experiences, develop new skills and actively shape their career. The Young Alumni Network programme is organised by a board of volunteers with the support of the Development and Alumni Relations department. For more information, please consult the Leiden University alumni website.

ULCN account and uMail

Alumni who graduated after 31 August 2006 can continue to make use of their ULCN account and uMail. Sixty days after graduation, their student account is automatically converted to an alumnus account. As a result, alumni retain access to services such as the Leiden University Library and continue to have access to University workplaces and Wi-Fi facilities within Leiden University. Services such as Surfspot and Brightspace are not accessible with an alumnus account. For more information on alumni services, please consult the Leiden University alumni website.
