Course information on location

We know that the best people to talk to about what it’s like to study at Leiden University are the students themselves. That’s why we ask students if they would be willing to visit schools to share their experience.

When lecturers are planning to give a presentation about a specific bachelor’s degree programme, or if a school is organising an information market that would be a great place for us to man a stand, we are keen to support them.

Student ambassadors

Almost all bachelor’s programmes have a student ambassador who shares information at schools and during information activities, which is also a great support for the organisation. These ambassadors lead a student information team within their course/faculty, with the team members being appointed in consultation with the programme’s information officer.

Programme presentation

At this information event one of our students gives a presentation about the content and structure of his or her programme, augmented with the student’s own experiences. Presentations are available for all our bachelor’s programmes.

General presentation

During this session, a student gives a general presentation about what it’s like to study at Leiden University, covering a variety of courses available at our university. Not only do pupils at the school where the presentation is given get a good idea of what studying at university is really about – this presentation is also great for their parents.

Check out these Tips for a good presentation.

Information stand

Students can also take publications with them to information fairs at schools. The students add their own details and answer visitors’ questions from the perspective of their own experiences.

School visits

The timetable of school visits for 2018–2019 (in Dutch) shows when school visits are scheduled. You can log in using the details in your ambassador folder, or alternatively you can request details from schoolbezoek@bb.leidenuniv.nl.

Make sure you send the name, telephone number and e-mail address of the information officer, no later than two weeks before the activity, to schoolbezoek@bb.leidenuniv.nl. This gives us enough time to send all the necessary information to the officer, including the date and time when the information materials can be collected.

Evaluating school visits

To make sure we really understand how the school visits have gone, we ask you to fill in an online evaluation form after each visit. You can do this when you bring the information materials back to Rapenburg 70.
