Why this course?
Every day you provide guidance to different employees with different capabilities and functional levels. Depending on the situation, a flexible leadership style and the ability to lead and support, can be the key to successful academic leadership in your work environment. In this course, you will learn how to assess your employees’ competence levels for each task and how to fit your leadership style to this competence level. Also, you will learn to guide employees to greater independence by adequately addressing the degree of skill, willingness and security an employee displays in regard to this task.
You will broaden your range of leadership styles by practicing:
- Instructing
- Persuading
- Discussing
- Delegating
Format
Each group receives guidance from a trainer and an actor. You will present your own scenario based on your work situation. The actor will express this in realistic behaviour which you will need to react to. You will then be given feedback on the effect of your interventions. The trainer will give practical tips and guide you in the methodology.
