Content
Over the centuries, there has been plenty of quotes in the visual arts. I use a number of examples to show how this is done and how varied it is. We look, among other things. after the painting: The Death of Marat from 1793 by Jacques Louis David, which has been frequently reused, I also show that Daan van Golden and Robert Zandvliet quote richly from art history. In this short course you choose 1 or 2 paintings from before 1800, you take a postcard or print with you in the first lesson. The painting is your source of inspiration to give your own (painter's) reaction to it. We build the lessons by making color and sketch studies of the painting, but after that it comes down to your imagination and the experiment to shape your reaction to the painting you have chosen.

Materials are present during the lessons.
