Archaeology summer photo contest
- Tuesday 16 May 2017 - Saturday 30 September 2017
2333 CC Leiden
The Faculty of Archaeology launches a 3-month photo contest running from June through September 2017.
Besides fun and a great opportunity to win prizes the objective of this competition is to give you, our prospective students and partners a look into our efforts to understand the ancient world. Your photo could be the next banner on the faculty website or on the cover of our promotional materials.
The best pictures will be printed and brought together in a wall of fame at the Van Steenis building.
All pictures you think are relevant to your work or study are welcome but we are especially looking for these 3 themes:
- Archaeology in situ: capture that moment when your dig reveals its greatest surprise last touched generations ago.
- Me and my site: Give us an insight into what your daily work looks like. How it is situated in the landscape? What are the conditions and who are the people you work with? Selfies of you and your site.
- Story in objects and bone: When your site has been dug up, your maps drawn and the lab work has been done the story of the people you study begins to appear. Capture that story.
Series are appreciated! Read our tips for making pictures during fieldwork!
The Jury consists of Roelant Jonker, Laura van Hoof, Maayke de Vries and Dr. Mariana Françozo.
