The role of material culture
The Visual Culture BA2 course combined archaeological analysis and interpretation concerning the role(s) of material culture in ancient societies, including Egypt, Greece, Rome, Petra, Gandhara and Han Dynasty China.
Through a creative assignment, students explored the impact and complexity of visual culture by means of visual culture. They examined and expressed certain ideas about visual communication in ancient societies by making their own visual works (posters, artworks, sculptures).
This exhibition showcases the projects of 6 different groups (the work of 18 students in total), highlighting how archaeological study and creative exploration can go hand in hand. The artworks will be displayed at the Faculty for the next 6 months, and further information about the project will be available on the website.
We hope to welcome you (there will be drinks!)
