Interested in innovative teaching, or maybe you have some questions or a good idea you want to share? Students and staff are welcome to come to the Education Festival and contribute their thoughts and ideas about innovation in teaching and learning.

This university-wide event is the opportunity to get inspired, hear new ideas, and share examples of  new teaching concepts and teaching innovation. Professor Helen Walkington will give a keynote speech on curiosity-driven learning, after which the programme will be filled by students and lecturers who are shaping the university's vision on teaching.

Leiden University's vision on teaching and learning -  Learning@LeidenUniversity - sets out in eight ambitions how we want to bring further innovation to our teaching. The aim is to allow students to develop and become academic and socially involved professionals who are able to look beyond  the borders of their own discipline. A lot is already happening at the university to translate many of the ambitions from the vision on teaching and learning and to make them more visible in our programmes. This will be one of the topics of the Education Festival on 19 June 2018.

Keynote speaker: Professor Helen Walkington

Professor Helen Walkington from Oxford Brookes University has used her own research experience to  promote curiosity-driven learning in her teaching. She has created opportunities for them to conduct fieldwork, and they also have the chance to have their work disseminated via publications. Walkington will share these experiences and answer questions about her methods at the Education Festival.
