This year is the 444th anniversary of Leiden University and we are celebrating this with the residents of the two cities in which the University has a presence: Leiden and The Hague. We are therefore holding an exhibition about the University and its connections to the city in the Wijnhaven building in The Hague.

The exhibition, which will consist of large display panels, will be free to all visitors to Wijnhaven.

Connection with The Hague

The theme of the exhibition is connection. The University is in the middle of society and has close links with the two cities in which it has a presence. Our research and teaching in The Hague therefore focus on themes that are a good match for the city, and we help solve the issues that the city is facing. We therefore share our knowledge as widely as possible, through education for various groups, on advisory boards and in lectures and debates. And our students and staff generally live in the city. One part of the exhibition will be in the Wijnhaven building, which will also make the connection visible.

Hague alumni

The topics that will be covered include the origins of our Hague campus, research, student life and teaching. The exhibition will also highlight the University‚Äôs involvement in the city of The Hague and will focus on alumni with an important role in the city, such as Prime Minister Mark Rutte.

*On Monday to Friday after 20.30 hrs. and on weekends the building is only accessible to students and staff.
