Active Teaching & Learning - June meeting
This meeting is for teachers and staff with an interest in Active Teaching and Learning. Are you curious to see how Spaces for Active Learning & Teaching can be used effectively? All are welcome to join any event in the series.
Within the Vision on Teaching and Learning, one of the 8 ambitions is Activating Teaching and Learning. With the support of the Vice-Deans and Hester Bijl, the Saltswat project is working on accelerating this ambition. Part of this project includes monthly Active Learning Network meetings in which we aim to reach individual teachers and professionals interested in Active Learning in a casual setting with no strings attached.
(Spaces for) Active Teaching and Learning
If you are interested in Active Learning but do not know where to start, or if you would like to join a group of like-minded people, we invite you to join one or more of our monthly get-togethers and connect with fellow teachers working on or excited about Active Teaching & Learning. The purpose of these meetings is to get to know teachers already working in this way, exchange information and tips, and listening to this month's speaker share their experience with Active Learning.
This new method of teaching often requires a different type of classroom in which more flexible arrangements are possible. Teachers might also need access to extra screens or whiteboards. Spaces are therefore an important factor in Active Teaching and Learning. The Active Learning Network meetings take place in a different Space for Active Learning at Leiden University each month. This way we can show which rooms are available for Active Learning & Teaching and how they can be used.
April Meeting : May 13, Stichthage 1313.
This month we will meet in the Living Lab. We will be joined by Vlad Dinescu-Dinca, assistant in the Institute of ecurity and Global Affairs, who will share his experience running serious games in active learning spaces.
We will cover topics such as: how do you make your courses more active and how do you use the available spaces for this new approach.
Light vegetarian lunch, tea, and coffee will be provided. Please RSVP here so we can make accurate orders. Questions can be directed to email@example.com
The meetings and the network are for both academic and non-academic staff. Students are also very welcome to join.
