Empirical Methods in Legal Research – Online fieldwork

Thursday 24 September 2020

Nadia Sonneveld will present her session on online fieldwork on 24 September. She says 'A major part of our daily lives has moved online, but we have an offline understanding of fieldwork. Why don’t we investigate what our research participants are doing online, and how their online behaviour relates to their offline activities? Can we separate online and offline as clearly as we used to?'

Sonneveld aims to move away from concern and pessimism to open up new opportunities. She notes 'At the end of the day, the COVID-19 pandemic provides us with a unique opportunity to rethink our theoretical and empirical understanding of fieldwork.'

The working language of this session is English. All researchers at Leiden Law School are welcome to participate. Please register with Aleydis Nissen by 18 September (a.m.h.nissen@law.leidenuniv.nl). She will send you an email confirmation with the link needed to access the session.

This session in part of the series 'Empirical Methods in Legal Research', which is being organised to implement the Dutch Law Sector Plan in Leiden. For an overview of the series, please click here.
