- Online & Wijnhaven (Invitation only)
Professor of War, Peace and Justice Bert Koenders and Professor of Science, Policy and Societal Impact Jet Bussemaker will discuss the impact of Covid-19 on national and international policy-making.
Although the crisis is ongoing, it is nevertheless interesting and important to already look back at some of the lessons that can be learned and ahead towards some of the (potential) consequences of the crisis on the micro-, meso- and macrolevel. With this thought in mind, the professors will discuss some important topics and several key questions. While doing so they will not only draw from their extensive academic knowledge, but also from their experience as former ministers in Cabinet Rutte II.
Jet Bussemaker and Bert Koenders will speak about continuity and change, for instance: Will there be enduring changes? And how can countries prepare for the next crisis or pandemic?
About international cooperation: What has the impact been on international relations and the cooperation between various countries and international organisations? Do national actors carry the responsibility for the measures against the virus, or regional or global actors such as the EU or WHO respectively?
And finally about equality and fairness: How can we emerge from the crisis better, fairer and more sustainable and how can we combat rising global inequalities?
Main language: This guest lecture is in English
