For the 5th Open Minded session of this academic year, Straton Papagianneas, PhD candidate at Leiden University will present his research:
 
The automation of justice is a worldwide phenomenon. At the vanguard of this development stands China, where courts have rapidly embraced AI tools in their work, including decision-making. The talk introduces the context of this automation policy, and how different systems are being used in Chinese courts. It finishes with a brief discussion on its normative implications for justice.
Open Minded is a lecture series organized by eLaw (Center for Law and Digital Technologies), wherein professionals working in the domain of law and digital technologies are invited to present their research, perspectives, or ongoing work.
