In the next session Empirical Methods in Legal Research, Faith Simiyu (Cardiff University / SOKLaw) will discuss focus group research. In this session, you can learn how you can decide whether focus groups are useful for your research. You can also learn how to prepare, conduct and wrap-up successful focus group research.
Simiyu will draw from her experiences to help you avoid common pitfalls. Feel free to take a look at her paper published in the Integrative Journal of Global Health to prepare this session. This paper has been co-authored with Laila Latif and Attiya Waris.
Simiyu is a member of the Equality, Dignity and Diversity Committee of Cardiff University’s School of Law and Politics. Her current research is sponsored by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK Department for International Development. Previously, she produced consultancy reports for various stakeholders, including the World Health Organization and the Network for Adolescent and Youths of Africa. Simiyu is also a barrister orAdvocate of the High Court of Kenya as well as a founding partner of the law firm SOKLaw. She also gives advice to students who wish to pursue a Master’s degree or PhD degree on her blog PhDLawReflection.
