Interfaculty Lunch on Social Safety

Social Safety at the workplace is a topic that affects us all. The Young Academy Leiden (YAL) organizes an interfaculty lunch to address social safety at Leiden University. Prof.mr. Annetje Ottow, the president of Leiden University’s Executive Board will join us to engage in a dialogue about this important topic.

A working environment in which everyone feels save and respected is crucial for employee’s overall well-being and health, job-satisfaction and productivity. Young researchers sometimes face working conditions with undesirable behaviors by colleagues or supervisors. Creating safe working environments at Leiden University is of high priority for YAL that needs continuous attention. YAL would like to open up a dialogue about social safety with early career researchers.

You are invited to join us for the interfaculty Lunch on Social Safety on May 12th 2022 at the Faculty Club Restaurant from 11.30-12.30. Annetje Ottow, will share with us her vision and approach to Social Safety at Leiden University. In addition, we will have a dialogue about social safety including topics of collegiality, leadership, confidential counselors, integrity and diversity and inclusion. Attendees can ask questions, share concerns and wishes for improvements with Annetje Ottow. These talking points can be sent to YAL in advance (during registration). YAL members will then share these questions with Annetje during the lunch meeting.

The lunch session will form a basis for the continuous involvement of early career researchers on the topic of social safety with the University and provide YAL with valuable insights on the next steps we can take around Social Safety.
