Mental Health at Work

Mental health of young academics is important. Following-up on our previous lunch on work load and mental health, the Young Academy Leiden organises a faculty lunch on mental health at work so we can continue the conversation about this important topic. At this lunch session, Inge van der Weijden, senior researcher at the Center for Science and Technology Studies, will present on the Researcher Mental Health (ReMO) project, a European wide research project on mental health in Academia. Inge van de Weijden will introduce the project aims and will focus on the European survey on research mental health which will be launched by ReMO in February 2023.

Most universities are aware of the mental health challenges that are linked to our current academic working environment and many of them have already started implementing actions to improve the mental health of their staff. However, a systematic evaluation of the current mental health situation as well as the perceived barriers and facilitators to mental health and wellbeing remains crucial. Therefore, after the presentation, we will have time to discuss together the barriers and facilitators for “Resilience”, “Work-Life Balance”, “Stress and how to cope with it” and “Social interaction” (how we treat each other at work).

You are invited to join us for the Faculty Lunch on Mental Health at Work. There will be a free lunch available.
