The depot: a public private endeavour

Many eyes are turned internationally to the depot of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. The depot is the first publicly accessible art depot in the world, in which the museum’s backstage has become front stage. Because in addition to the museum collection, the depot also houses collections from private individuals and companies, the public is given an insight into the world of public and private collecting. The inception of the radically accessible concept is partly explained by the specific genesis of the museum; a statement of public-private investment and collaboration.
