In this network event, we will have a closer look at data driven research at LUMC and the rules an regulations that surround the careful protection and management of hospital data.

  • Yavanna van Oostveen works in the LUMC at the directorate Quality and Patient Safety. She is the BROK (Basic course on Regulations and Organisation for clinical investigators ) coordinator of the LUMC and part of the Good Research Practice team as an advisor on clinical research. Members of this team advise all WMO (Medical Research Involving Human Subjects Act) and non WMO researchers on relevant laws and regulations and take care of the monitoring of all LUMC WMO trials in the LUMC and in participating centers.

Yavanna will give a short introduction about the BROK course and will zoom in on how to set up and conduct non WMO research in the LUMC.

  • Kristel Schaap works as a research data management consultant for the Advanced Data Management group of the LUMC. The aim of this group is to spread knowledge about research data management and data stewardship among LUMC researchers and students, as well as to support researchers in this area. For example by teaching courses, advising with DMPs and building research databases.

Kristel will talk about the procedures and infrastructures in the LUMC to enable good research data management, data stewardship and FAIR data.

The main session will last one hour with extra time allocated for asking questions and continuing the discussion with those who wish to stay a bit longer. Please contact datamanagement@library.leidenuniv.nl if you are not a member of the Research Data Management Community and would like to attend.

About Connect & events

This event is part of the “Connect and …” series of meetings arranged by, and for, the Leiden University Research Data Management Community. The meetings take around the middle of the month, every month, at different days and times, so as to maximize access according to people’s different working hours. Topics and speakers are proposed by members of the Community.

You can post a suggestion in the Community's MSTeams space, or write to datamanagement@library.leidenuniv.nl, if you have a topic you'd like to discuss in a future meeting and the CDS team will help to make it happen.
